Organisational Structure

TII Board

The TII Board is responsible for leading and directing TII’s activities. It is appointed under the Roads Act (1993 – 2023). The Roads Act (1993 – 2023) sets out specific functions and duties of the TII Board. The Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies requires the TII Board to collectively lead and direct TII’s activities. The Board has ultimate oversight on matters such as finances, risk and performance. The Board reviews and guides our strategic direction and major plans of action, and oversees major capital expenditure and investment decisions. Based on their wide range of backgrounds and specialisations, the Board provides insights and guidance on our projects, operations, risk management, our annual budgets and business plans, and the setting and monitoring of TII performance metrics.

The Board also has ‘reserved functions’, which are those decisions that only the TII Board can make. These are set out in TII’s Code of Practice.

TII Executive Team

In order to provide an integrated approach to the future development and operation of the national roads network and light rail infrastructure through- out Ireland, under the direction of the DoT and in partnership with local authorities and the NTA, TII is organised into mutually supportive divisions, departments and project teams, some dedicated to particular business or project outcomes and others providing administrative or technical specialist support across the spectrum of TII activities. TII is made up of six divisions:

  • Network Management
  • Commercial Operations
  • Capital Programme Management
  • Corporate Services
  • Professional Services
  • Business Services

The Chief Executive’s Office works across TII to connect and co-ordinate divisions and integrate strategic cross divisional initiatives; most notable being TII’s integrated strategy for sustainability and climate action.
