Experience how archaeologists reconstruct life and diet from the analysis of animal bones, cereal finds, human bone and pollen records. Hands-on sessions with butter churning, bread tasting and more!
Experience in ‘hands-on’ sessions how archaeologists reconstruct past lives from animal bones, cereal finds, human bone and pollen, learn how diet leaves traces on human bones, grind grain on a prehistoric hand mill, and try the products of butter churning demonstrations with prehistoric-style bread!

Roundabout Archaeology
Join the archaeologists who carried out excavations beside the historic graveyard at Ballinacarrig on the N80 near Carlow and find out more about their fascinating discoveries.
Archaeologists from TVAS (Ireland) Ltd were commissioned by Carlow County Council to carry out archaeological investigations in advance of construction of a new roundabout on the N80 beside a historic graveyard at Ballinacarrig near Carlow. The excavation uncovered a surprising wealth of archaeological remains from the prehistoric and historic eras.

Kildare - Naas Town Hall
The Kiln Fields, Sallins Bypass
This illustrated talk outlines the archaeological discoveries made in 2016 and 2017 in advance of the construction of the M7 Motorway Upgrade and R407 Sallins Bypass, Co. Kildare.
Some 20 new archaeological sites were discovered and excavated, including charcoal-production pits, smelting furnaces, cereal-drying kilns, a brick-kiln, post-medieval roadways, a mill-race, prehistoric cremations and a ceremonial ring-ditch. The most significant finding was undoubtedly an early medieval enclosure complex on the banks of the River Liffey, north of Sallins village.

Go Biking with a Viking
Go Biking with a Viking and explore the Viking history of Waterford along the Woodstown section of the Waterford Greenway. Departing Bilberry in Waterford at 12 noon to Woodstown Viking Village.
Family heritage day at Woodstown on the Waterford Greenway. Cycle, walk or take the Waterford Suir Valley Railway from Kilmeaden to Woodstown and explore Déise Medieval's Viking Village, try your hand at medieval archery or wattle fence building, watch battle re-enactments and learn to be an archaeologist for a day. Take part in guided walks on Viking Woodstown and Wildlife of the River Suir.
