Be Winter Ready 2024 - 2025

The Governments ‘Be Winter Ready’ 2024 - 2025 Information Campaign was launched, with the message: “Be Prepared This Winter”.

Minister of State with responsibility for International and Road Transport and Logistics, James Lawless TD, was joined at the launch by Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Kieran O’Donnell TD, and Eoin Sherlock, Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann.

• This year’s campaign highlights the ‘Whole of Government’ approach taken to plan and prepare for the challenges of winter. Core to this campaign is the message to be prepared, stay safe and know where to find help if needed.
• The campaign provides practical advice and information to the public on preparing for and overcoming the difficulties which may affect them during winter months in Ireland - such as how to prepare for severe weather, where to source information, and personal actions that can be taken to become more resilient in their winter readiness.
• The dedicated website winterready.ie provides helpful information for resilience this winter for people, their families and communities. Information is provided from a wide number of sources including Government Departments and Agencies, An Garda Síochána, the Health Service Executive, the Office of Public Works, Local Authorities and Transport providers.
• An updated “Be Winter Ready” information booklet and key messages leaflet provide advice and guidance categorised under various headings including Road safety, Flooding, Farm safety, Mental health and Severe weather during the winter months.
• Advice on driving during the winter months and periods of severe weather is provided under the important theme of Road Safety and Winter Driving - Plan, Prepare, Be Aware and reinforces the need for all road users to be vigilant and prepared for the weather.

Promotion of the “Be Winter Ready” Government Information Campaign 2024/2025


• We would appreciate all assistance your organizations can can lend to promoting and raising awareness of the Winter Ready Campaign by utilising the attached media assets graphics and support messaging. Either by linking to the www.winterready.ie website through your own winter campaigns, distribution of the associated materials through your websites and social media channels, or via other public information channels which you may have available.
• There will also be additional messages posted from the @EmergencyIE Twitter account after the official launch.
• Please use #BeWinterReady on all related social media posts.
• This campaign will continue to run throughout the coming months, and will include messaging around severe weather, road safety, safety in the home, health, flooding, etc. and will focus on driving users to winterready.ie.
