Environmental Research

TII’s Environmental Policy and Compliance section has undertaken various post EIA evaluation research projects as part of TII’s on-going Research Strategy.

Under the European Communities (Environmental Noise) Regulations 2018 to 2021 TII is a designated noise mapping body for the development of strategic noise maps for all major national roads carrying in excess of 3 million vehicles a year and for light rail lines.

Appropriate Assessment

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) determined that Appropriate Assessments in respect of some of its plans or projects were required as it could not be excluded, on the basis of objective scientific information, that the plans or projects, individually or in combination with other plans or projects, would have significant effects on European sites.
